Equality of the people to their native language
ASSOCIATED PRESS, Oct. 25 - Students at the Beijing campus of Minzu University of China, a leading institution for ethnic minority students, protested for language rights Friday. Students are carrying banners saying "Protect ethnic minority languages, carry forward Chinese civilization. “Equality among ethnic groups and the right to learn in Tibetan”
PHAYUL, Oct 25 - "More protests against the Chinese government's education policy have been reported on Sunday as thousands of students took to the streets of Chentsa County to demand that the government revert its decision to replace Tibetan language as medium of instruction in Tibetan schools by Chinese language." Sources also said that 20 students were detained following protests on Saturday in Chabcha County.

Email petition to the United Nations Secratary General!
SF Team Tibet would like to request your attendance this Friday, 12 noon outside San Francisco Chinese consulate to protest the recent decision of The People's Republic of China demanding that Tibetan students receive their education in Chinese. We are standing in solidarity with the Tibetan school students from all regions of Tibet courageously protesting and risking a lot to show their outrage in China occupied Tibet.
China's decision to force the Chinese language on Tibetan students is without a doubt an attempt to wipe out the Tibetan identity through strategic campaigning of implementing discriminatory policies targeting the strong Tibetan culture.
This new policy is in gross violation of the UN Declaration of Human Rights which even China must follow. As you know, the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon will begin a six-day visit to China this Saturday, Oct 30 to meet top official leaders of the PRC, including Hu Jintao himself.
