who are we?
We are the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress San Francisco chapter who is actively involved in Tibetan political issues, specifically advocating for Tibet's independence. We hold many protests at the Chinese consulate to release our political prisoners and for a Free Tibet and bring awareness to the Bay Area community concerning human rights issues inside Tibet. We organize Tibetan cultural events - taking advantage of the free rights in America to preserve our unique culture that our people inside Tibet can not.
why are we demanding complete independence?
We demand complete independence because historically, Tibet has been independent. Other reasons follow Tibet belongs to Tibetans. Tibet has been illegally occupied by the Chinese and we do not want to live under the Chinese -- Tibetans want to preserve our own culture, religion, and environment and live freely in our own country. With independence, it will enable the Tibetans to protect our unique identity, enjoy assured human rights, and a deserving seat at the United Nations. Lastly, Independence for Tibet is the only SOLUTION.
What are we hoping to accomplish?
We are hoping the slogan, "Tibet will be Free Someday!" Right now, what we are hoping is to accomplish is to create a vast awareness of the genocide inside Tibet and to educate the world, Tibet belongs to Tibetans and help us by supporting the truth that Tibet is an independent country.
