Countdown to March 10th in San Francisco: Day 2

Geary Street is known as the artery of San Francisco City traffic with tons of cars going both ways. The Chinese Consulate is just at in front of the Street where any protest is widely heard by every driver that passes by.

The 2nd day of protest has been as effective as yesterday with more turn out of protestors and attention from the public. We were able to distribute a good number of flyers to pedestrians and visa seekers. The flyer contains ten points of proof that Tibet belongs Tibetan and that it is under brutal Chinese occupation. The sound from the bullhorn hit the Consulate Visa Section quiet badly! The visa seekers were open and receptive to our hand -outs.

As this week of protest is a prelude of the actual mass demonstration on March 10th, local and global media had already started to pay special attention to it. One local media person was out on the street along with us today his camera rolling and taking notes from our spokespersons. Tenzin Nyisang of SFT board of advisers was present during the protest. She put the mood of the protest as follow: "I can't believe that people are so open to protest in San Francisco." She later led the chant, "What do we want?" Free Tibet "When do want it?" Now! "Where do we want it?" Tibet, Tibet, Tibet! Coverage of the week of protest is expected to appear on major newspapers such as SF Bay Guardian and Oakland Tribune.

The protest will continue everyday between 1pm -3pm in front of the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco. The Consulate is situated between Geary and Laguna Street, near Japan Town.
