About Us
|
Established on October 12, 1998, San Francisco Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (SFTYC) is as active as ever in the cause of the Tibetan struggle for freedom. We protest the Chinese occupation of Tibet, create awareness in and outside of our community, and our effort to build and sustain a democratic and dynamic Tibetan community in the Bay Area continues to progress. Tibetan Youth Congress stands firmly for "Rangzen" or Independence for Tibet, as its main objective. With a worldwide membership of over 25,000 Tibetans and 85 branches, TYC thrived and continues to be the largest and the most active non-governmental organization in the exiled Tibetan world. TYC membership is open to every bona fide Tibetan; there is no any discrimination whatsoever on the basis of faith, region, sex, occupation and qualification. However, you must be 18 years or older to commit yourself for TYC as a political organization dedicated to the cause of protecting and prevailing Tibetan independence. TYC strives to keep alive the question of Tibetan independence in international arena by:
(meaning independence) in English and Tibetan to inform the Tibetans and the world publicly about developments inside Tibet, and also to represent a form for a free and frank discussion on all issues relating to the Tibetan national struggle. |
